Congratulations on getting that second interview – Now then, let’s make sure you smash it!
Right then, let’s get into this.
In your second interview, It’s very likely that you’ll be interviewed by another person, along with the first interviewer.
As well as this, it’s also very likely that you’ll be asked similar questions to your initial interview. Therefore, it’s important to repeat everything from the first interview that got you to the second.
Remember to share your eye contact with all interviewers, not just the one you feel comfortable with.
If asked similar questions to your first interview, make sure to answer the questions fully again as the other person hasn’t heard your answers.
Have another set of questions ready and try to refer back to the previous interview or a question from their company literature.
Reiterate your interest in the role and enthusiastically ask for the job again.
You’ll probably be asked more questions regarding your personal skills and specific interests at this interview so be prepared for more challenging questions. Try to back up your responses with examples.
It’s essential to remain composed, do not flutter and remember to take your time. It’s important that you can effectively communicate your opinions.
The second interview is also your opportunity to ask questions which you were probably hesitant to ask at the first. For example, queries regarding salary, bonuses and training schemes.
Don’t be over presumptuous assuming that you’re the successful candidate because you’re at the second interview. There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Remember, competition for most jobs nowadays is high and it’s crucial at all times to display good manners in a confident but unassuming manner.
Bear in mind that the second interview is your opportunity to showcase your intense interest for the job and this is shown by everything you say during the interview. Don’t forget that your sole objective is to convince the employer that you’re the right person for the job.
