Overall Purpose of the Role

  • To organise and supervise the mess in accordance with and to the standards required
  • To be responsible for the overall efficient and effective management of the mess under their control providing a quality service, economic use of resources, stock and company assets
  • Responsible for the management of the preparation, cooking and service of food to agreed standards and specifications

Person Specification

  • Catering management experience
  • Good knowledge and experience of working with food
  • People Management
  • Well developed communication skills
  • Results Orientation
  • Holding others accountable
  • Understanding customers

Essential

  • Proven experience in managing successful teams in a similar environment
  • NVQ Level 1 and 2 or City and Guilds 706/1 and 2
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Experience of leading and managing a small team of people
  • Excellent financial acumen
  • I.T literate

Desirable

  • Experience in a similar role
  • Good knowledge of food/service methods and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self motivated and ability to adapt to a changing environment
