Manufacturing Site Manager – Chemicals

Salary negotiable depending on experience

Based in Daventry, Northants

Monday to Friday – Days

Our prestigious client is looking to recruit for a Manufacturing Site Manager. In brief you will be expected to ensure that all day-to-day operations are running smoothly and that the site is operating to its maximum efficiency and capability to meet business KPI’s. You will also be responsible for production performance, maintenance, cost control and health and safety. You will play an active role in managing and coaching people, driving process development and delivering productivity and performance improvements in line with the company business plan.

Personal Specification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or a professional qualification or equivalent
  • 5 years previous managerial experience in production of speciality chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics or medical devices
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with a focus on finding a solution through to resolution
  • Excellent working knowledge of ISO 9001-2015 Quality Management System and GMP requirements
  • IOSH/NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma along with a clear understanding of health and safety legislation and requirements in a production environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral with reliable IT skills and a sound working knowledge of Microsoft office packages

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • In this standalone role you will be the site responsible person for all plant activities: organising plant, equipment, services and site maintenance and repair, as well as planning and organising production schedules and ensuring the laboratory and offices operate efficiently; some occasional standing in to cover production processes and quality activities may also be required
  • Ensuring that employees follow company policies and procedures by positively managing and ensuring adherence to best practice, legal, regulatory and safety requirements, as well as OTIF targets and production efficiency
  • Responsible for all on site HR requirements, identifying training needs, organising relevant training sessions, developing and appraising team to meet succession plan; ensuring staff are trained and adhering to production and quality requirements
  • Ensuring the department perform all tasks within the ISO 9001-2015 Quality Management, H&S and environmental system with responsibility for all H&S aspects of the site; making certain that health and safety regulations and internal requirements are consistently met and that all cleaning, disposal and housekeeping is within company requirements
  • Meeting production timescales or schedules as necessary ensuring that production is delivered on time and at specified quality in required volumes for sales/inventory, at minimum and sustainable costs to achieve company budget goals. Also maintaining appropriate stocks of raw materials, consumables and finished goods as well as scheduling collection of finished goods
  • The position requires the ability to work in partnership with all internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful long-term business relationships are developed and maintained; agreeing budgets and timescales with clients and internal customers whilst liaising with buyers, finance, regulatory, quality, marketing and sales staff whilst also selecting, approving and interacting with procurement for materials and services
