Company Overview

This is an excellent opportunity to join a £35bn turnover power engineering business in a leadership position which is currently involved in enormous infrastructure projects in the UK. With over 100 years of engineering heritage, you’ll join their expert electrical generation/distribution function.

Role Outline

The ideal person there are looking for will have an exceptional grasp on project contracts, being heavily involved in the tendering and sales phase. A legal understanding is imperative for project variations/amendments. You will need to drive positive communication with various departments to ensure project continuity. Experience working on large scale substation build, renewables or waste plant projects is advantageous.

Responsibilities

-Understand, assess & report business contractual and commercial risks during sales and tender phase
-Understand the contractual requirements of project documents including the roles and responsibilities of all involved and the notices required to record change
-Understand the principles of contract law and its importance in defence/applications of contractual claims
-Conduct cost forecasting and reporting
-Assist in establishing and maintaining cost and valuation reporting procedures
-Adhere to contract administration procedures
-To support the authorisation and submission of project variations. To authorise the placement of contracts, subcontracts, material and plant orders.

Requirements

Essential

-Degree qualified in law, preferably a member of a professional body
-Minimum of 10 years Quantity Surveying experience
-Excellent time management skills
-Working knowledge of NEC3, FIDIC, and bespoke forms of contract
-Experience in monthly cost/value reporting and cash flow management both with clients and supply chain
-Team player
-Excellent communication skills (written & oral)

Desirable

-Experience working in the electricity supply industry
-Understanding of planning processes and tools such as Primavera and Microsoft Projects
-Presentation skills (writing & presenting)
